Evade Martial Arts FAQ
We have compiled a list of Evade Martial Arts FAQ here to help answer any questions you may potentially have about training with us at our Tameside gym.
How do I get started?
We always recommend new students book in for a free intro (private one-to-one going over what is involved on the mats) followed by a free trial class. If you fill out the contact form on this site, e-mail us via firstname.lastname@example.org or ring us direct on 01457 833987, we can arrange a day/time that is convenient for you.
Do I need prior experience?
No, we have dedicated beginners only sessions available throughout the week in all our age groups and martial arts disciplines.
Do I need to be fit?
No, we assume that when people first start training martial arts with us at Evade, their fitness is going to be the first thing that needs developing. No matter whether you are currently very fit or have not trained any physical activity in a long time, our beginners program is going to be accessible for you.
Am I too old to start?
At Evade Martial Arts, we truly believe that Martial Arts training is beneficial for everyone. No matter your age, you will find a class to suit your particular goals and needs.
What age do your children’s classes begin from?
You can find out more details about each individual program on their relevant pages on this site but in a nutshell, our Little Ninjas is for children aged 4 – 7 years and our Cadets is for children aged 8 – 13 years.
Can you pay per class or is all tuition monthly?
We have pay per class, off-peak and peak memberships available dependent on age, chosen style and attendance of student.
What should I wear for my first time?
When coming down for your intro and/or first trial class, simply wear loose fitting, comfortable clothes such as a t-shirt and shorts, jogging pants or leggings. Trainers are not necessary as it is barefoot on the mats.
Do I need to bring my own equipment?
If you have your own equipment, you are more than welcome to bring it. However, we supply all necessary equipment in the beginners sessions across the board. Intermediate/Advanced level practitioners may well need additional equipment though to access their training programs successfully.
Do I need to Spar?
There are some training programs where sparring is not mandatory. We only introduce sparring in our intermediate/advanced level classes in Freestyle Karate/Kickboxing when students are ready to access this type of training. Our Ethos is one of light controlled sparring at Evade as we are firm believers that Martial Arts training should be accessible to all.
How can I book in for a private lesson and how much are they?
You can use the contact form on this site, e-mail via email@example.com or ring direct on 01457 833987 to discuss your requirements for private tuition. Each instructor charges a different hourly rate but these start from £25 per hour.
