Lucien Carbin Kickboxing Seminar
Lucien Carbin (born September 7, 1952) is a legend in Holland, renowned for his fighting skills and considered as one of the best coaches in the country. Lucien as a fighter, was a champion in many styles; Dutch champion in Kyokushinkai, Kickboxing and Full contact, European champion in Kyokushin, Kickboxing and Savate, and World champion in Kickboxing. I have been a great admirer of his for many years so I am genuinely blown away to have this opportunity to personally host a Lucien Carbin Kickboxing Seminar in the UK.
You may or may not know (depending on how much of a fan you are of Kickboxing) Lucien Carbin’s prolific history when it comes to training fighters. His pupils have always been among the best in the world and he is responsible for having trained some of the greatest champions to grace the ring over the past few decades.
Alistair Overeem, Tyrone Spong, Rob Kaman (in his early years), Ilonka Elmont, Gilbert Yvel, Frank Lobman, Sergio Wielzen, Andy Ristie and many more have flourished under his tutelage. He has a truly unique style and one not seen utilised by any other striking coach in the world.
Prior to starting life as a coach though, Lucien Carbin had an equal amount of success as a fighter, and he was an extraordinary fighter at that. At a time when earning fame through kickboxing exploits was difficult at best, Carbin became one of the first well-known kickboxing stars in Europe.
Lucien had originally began training Kyokushinkai Karate with the European Karate pioneer, Jon Bluming, before starting his Kickboxing training with Jan Plas, who was the one of first well known Kickboxing trainers in the world (as the founder of the world famous Mejiro Gym). During his time in Kyokushinkai Karate, Carbin won the First European Kyokushin Championships, which was held in London in 1978.
Carbin was among the first kickboxers to make a name for himself in Europe. He was the star on every fight card he graced and became known as an absolute terror in the ring. Carbin dominated the sport during the 70’s and 80’s, with few challengers who stood to oppose him. He also inspired great champions like Rob Kaman, who originally only became interested in Kickboxing after seeing Carbin fight.
